Local MLA Dr A Satyananarayana and mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai has inaugurated the digitalisation of books in Gowthami Regional Library (GRL) here on Saturday. As many as 25,000 important books in the reference section will be digitalized in the library.

Local MLA Dr A Satyananarayana and mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai has inaugurated the digitalisation of books in Gowthami Regional Library (GRL) here on Saturday. As many as 25,000 important books in the reference section will be digitalized in the library. Nisarga a Hyderabad based company took up the task.

Dr A Satyanarayana said that the library is having many rare books from the year 1870 which are in a damaged condition. “It is our duty to save the books for future generations. It will takes 10 months to complete the digitalisation of books along for which palmleaf manuscripts and two scanners are provided.”

The age-old library is having as many as 1.10 lakh books and some of which are only available herein the country. GRL is having necessary parametres to obtain national status and steps are being taken in this regard.

Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai underlined the need to develop the library. Many research scholars are coming to the library from different parts of the state. GRL librarian R Venkat Rao, retired Telugu professor Dr Aripirala Narayana Rao and others were present.
