Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai underscored the need to encourage handlooms and handicrafts for the benefit of thousands of artisans getting bread and butter through them.

“Handlooms and handicrafts are good in quality when compared with other items,” she said after inaugurating handicrafts and handloom exhibition in Subramanya Mydanam in Rajamahendravaram on Thursday.

She said the government is encouraging the artisans by implementing many welfare schemes.

She advised the people to wear handloom clothes atleast once in a week for the wellbeing of people depended on the sector. “The expos help a lot to them to sell their material on a large scale,” she said.

Visaka Artisans Development Society president Mohammed Saleem said the expo continues upto November 12th and as many as 60 handloom and handicrafts stalls across the country sell their material.

Hyderabad Pearls, Kalamkari paints, Saranpur wood carving, black mettle, Etikoppaka toys, Mysore Rosewood, Terrakot toys, Rajsthan bedsheets along with glass material available in the expo.
