Akiveedu: The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEDCL) has taken up steps to control the low voltage problems in the villages.” Power transformers are being upgraded in the division for this purpose,” said APEDCL Assistant Divisional Engineer Rajagopal Chowdary here on Thursday.

He said that in Kollaparru Sub-Station, a couple of transformers with a capacity of 5MVA were replaced with 8 MVA transformers. With this upgrade, the low voltage problem in Pedakapavaram, Chinakapavaram, Apparaopeta, Gummuluru, Teratava, Kollaparru and Sidhapuram villages would be resolved.

He said that the power demand was increasing day by day following the rise in aqua ponds in Akiveedu mandal. “Earlier, a single transformer was used to power both fishponds and houses. Due to this, the domestic consumers faced the issue of inadequate supply of electricity. APEDCL would provide the fish farmers if they apply for individual transformers,” the official informed.

Reportedly, 48 additional transformers were set up so far in the Akiveedu mandal to bridge the voltage fluctuations. “Besides this, additional 33KV power line would also be provided for Akiveedu Sub- Station,” he added.
