Vijayawada Municipal Corporation drains green cover
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has been felling trees for laying drains in Suryaraopet here. The construction work for laying the drains began a month ago. Engineers of the corporation have been committing similar green crimes in places where drain inlay is in progress. Big trees obstructing the drain passages are being mercilessly chopped off in Suryaraopet.

Big trees obstructing the drain passages are being mercilessly chopped off in Suryaraopet.
The local people have been questioning the VMC authorities over the felling, which continue unabated to confirm with their designs. It would have been an eco-friendly move if the officials had made some changes to the drain lines to conserve the much-needed green cover in the area. Some of the biggest trees have been victims of the VMC. The trees that added to the beauty to the presently lacklustre streets have become target for the VMC.
