Walkathon for awareness on cancer held
About 300 cancer patients, oncology doctors, eminent personalities and celebrities participated in Walkathon organised to mark World Cancer Day here on Sunday. Actress Lavanya Tripathi, director Srikanth Addala and lyricist Bhuvana Chandra flagged off the Walkathon.
Vijayawada: About 300 cancer patients, oncology doctors, eminent personalities and celebrities participated in Walkathon organised to mark World Cancer Day here on Sunday. Actress Lavanya Tripathi, director Srikanth Addala and lyricist Bhuvana Chandra flagged off the Walkathon.
The programme was organised by Manipal Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Vijayawada in association with Cheyutha Trust and Shubhakar Trust. Lavanya Tripathi expressed her happiness to be a part of the campaign which would help create awareness and understand and remove the fear of myths on cancer.
Manipal Hospital Vijayawada Oncology unit head Dr Kantipudi Sudhakar said that the oncology department of Manipal Hospitals had the best facility in the state and had been offering the entire spectrum of oncology care raging from screening, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment, he said. Medical Oncologist Krishna Reddy, Dr MSC Bose of Sudhakar Trust and others were present.
