5 RO water plants to come up in rural areas

Guntur: The state government is setting up RO (reverse osmosis) plants at Karlapalem, Nuzendla, Chebrolu, Ponnur and Vinukonda in Guntur district at a cost of Rs 15.2 crore under the NTR Sujala Padhakam to supply drinking water to 206 villages.

The aim of the government is to supply twenty liters of mineral water at a cost of Rs 2 in the rural areas. These units are expected to be grounded within six months. In addition to this, the Power Grid Corporation is setting another RO plant in Vinukonda Assembly constituency at a cost of Rs 2.2 crore under the Corporate Social Responsibility scheme. The capacity of the RO plant is one lakh liters per day. At present, there are two RO plants in the Vinukonda Assembly constituency.

The government has sanctioned another RO plant under the NTR Sujala Padhakam Scheme. One more RO plant will be setting up under the CSR at Peda Kancharla. Rural Water Scheme superintendent engineer P Bhanu Veera Prasad said, “The government has issued orders to set up the above RO plants in the district under the NTR Sujala Padhakam.”
