Anantapuramu: The Ananta Nari Garjana held by the women employees, women and girl students at Clock Tower in Anantapuramu town on Saturday was successful. Earlier, they cleansed the Telugu Talli statue with milk and later took out a rally from ZP office to the Clock Tower with pro-Samaikyandhra slogans.
Teachers, students, NGOs, anganwadi employees, workers, farmers, electricity employees, Muslims and others are continuing agitations, protests, rallies, half-naked protests, Vanta Varpu programmes to support a united State in Dharmavaram, Tadipatri, Madakasira, Puttaparthi, Kalyandurg and other areas in the district on Saturday.
Lawyers of 13 districts decided to conduct ‘Samaikyandhra Nyayavadula Sadassu’ at Hyderabad on September 28. The lawyers led by Seemandhra lawyers JAC held a meeting at Kamma Bhavan in Anantapuramu town on Saturday. They also decided to boycott court duties till September 29 in Hyderabad and Seemandhra areas. They have, however, planned to argue the cases filed on students and leaders during the Samaikyandhra agitation free of cost. The lawyers said that they will meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Central Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on September 19 and 20 to explain the problems that will arise due to State bifurcation and to request to stop the formation of separate Telangana.
Darkness fell on about 1,000 villages in the district due to the 72-hour strike of the electricity employees. Generation came to a standstill due to technical problems and employees refused to attend to these problems. The officials are requesting the public who are complaining about power woes to cooperate with their agitation. But the common people are waiting for power supply which is essential for any work. There is no power supply in the five municipalities of Anantapuramu district - Hindupur, Kadiri, Tadipatri, Rayadurg and Dharmavaram.
