akbar2Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Wednesday said Governor ESL Narasimhan's address in the joint session has come as a big disappointment, because it failed to instil confidence among people particularly minorities, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes. The MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said, "The Governor in his speech admitted that SC and ST communities have been denied opportunities and were neglected in the past. Finally the government enforced SC and ST Sub-Plan." Pointing out that the Governor only made passing reference to the welfare of minorities in the State in his 26-page-long speech, he said the fact was that the number of beneficiaries in many of the State and Central schemes were much below their proportion of 11 per cent to the State's total population. The MIM leader said Narasimhan conveniently ignored serious problems affecting the State. All habitationsvillages, towns and cities- were facing severe power cuts for long durations. Students writing public exams had to face severe inconvenience due to power cuts in the centres. Power consumers of all categories were badly affected due to hike in power tariff and FSA burden this year. Owaisi said the Governor also admitted that the farm sector was badly affected due to adverse seasonal conditions.
