TDP cadres set to make April 27 a historic day

• Naidu will conclude yatra in Vizag on the day
• He will kick off campaign for general elections
• One million party workers expected to arrive
• 10,000 motorbikes, 400 cars to take out a rally
• More than 12 trains, 500 buses being hired

Visakhapatnam: Local Telugu Desam leaders are making all-out efforts to pack the city with party workers and paint the city literally yellow with banners and cut-outs of the party and its prominent leaders. The public meeting slated for April 27 to mark culmination of 2,800-km 'Vastunna Meekosam' padayatra by Nara Chandrababu Naidu will be a historic one since the party conceded power to Congress in 2004.

"The public meeting will be the most prestigious event for the party. In a sense, the party president will blow conch for preparing party workers for general elections,'' said party vice-president Kona Tata Rao.Tata Rao said Naidu will enter Kurmannapalem from Duvvada on the last day of the padayatra on April 26 and after camping there for the night, he will symbolically walk for half a kilometre and reach the pylon at 3 pm the following day. The pylon constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore will have three parts � standing 60 feet tall and 26 feet wide.

From the pylon, Babu would be taken on an open top jeep in a rally of 10,000 motorcycles and 400 cars to the meeting venue at Andhra University Engineering College Grounds. "We are expecting a million people to assemble in the city and at least half of them would be in the ground by afternoon,'' Tata Rao said.

The party leaders have booked 12 trains till the evening and some more would be arranged by Friday evening to bring party workers and sympathizers from all parts of the State.
