Stage is set for the 12th Foundation Day celebrations of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, scheduled to be held at Perkit village on the outskirts of Armoor in Nizamabad district on Saturday. Around 35,000 delegates from 10 districts of the region are expected to attend this meeting, which will kick-off at 2.30 pm.

The entire Armoor town has turned into a pink fortress with party banners and flags visible everywhere. The second rung leaders of the party have already reached the town. The party decided to conduct a delegates conference instead of a public meeting in view of the gruelling summer. At least 200 members from each of the 119 Assembly constituencies, comprising members of district body and affiliated outfits will participate in the meeting.

Former MP Jitender Reddy, chairman of the arrangements committee, informed that elaborate preparations are being made.A "This meeting will be held in a sprawling area of 40 acres. Some 30,000 chairs will be laid and five thousand more will be kept as stand by. About 70,000 sq ft area has been specially allotted for food arrangements to the delegates and 18 varieties of Telangana delicacies will be served to the delegates," he added.

The Foundation Day meeting would kick-off after hoisting of the party flag and lighting of the lamp. Later TRS chief K Chandrasekhar will deliver a short inaugural address after which key leaders of the party will introduce and adopt important resolutions on various issues. There is a chance of Bayyaram ores issue figuring in this list.

Then KCR would deliver his all-important speech to the big gathering after which the foundation meeting would draw to a close. A Apart from explaining key decisions taken by the politburo, the TRS chief will give directions to the party with an eye on the next general elections. TRS is leaving no stone unturned to strengthen the party at the grass root level in all districts of the region thus turning it into a reckoning force in the future. This meeting will certainly help their cause, according to political pundits.

There is some anxiety in the party circles if any of the leaders from other parties belonging to Telangana would join the TRS on this occasion. KCR has been saying often that several leaders, particularly T Congress MPs will be doing so. In fact he met some of them more than once and made an open offer, even setting the party Foundation Day as the deadline for the purpose.

However, the Parliament members decided to wait till May 10, when the present session of Parliament is set to be over, for their party to take some decision on statehood. They said they will take a firm position after that. In view of this, if not the MPs, it remains to be seen if people from other ranks will come forward to join the pink army. Meanwhile source informed KCR will head from Hyderabad around 9 am. A massive convoy of 200 vehicles will follow him.
