BJP, TJAC Differ on Report to GoM, BJP Telangana Leaders, Hyderabad as Joint Capital. The BJP Telangana leaders are understood to be differing with Telangana JAC’s stand on the duration of Hyderabad as joint capital for both Telangana and residuary Andhra Pradesh state

The BJP Telangana leaders are understood to be differing with Telangana JAC’s stand on the duration of Hyderabad as joint capital for both Telangana and residuary Andhra Pradesh state. It is the same with Polavaram issue. While TJAC had decided to oppose it, tooth and nail, the saffron party is pressing for change in the project design.
The state BJP has constituted two separate committees comprising of Telangana and Seemandhra leaders for preparing reports based on the aspirations and rights of people of respective regions. The party is hoping to finish this task by end of October and submit its report to the GoM. The party wants to consolidate the views of both the regions and submit one single report. According to party sources Vedire Sriram and Krishna Sagar have been tasked with the responsibility of preparing report on behalf of the Telangana Udyama Committee. From Seemandhra region leaders like Haribabu, Somveeraju and Y Raghunath have already started holding meetings so that a report can be finalised by October 25.
It is learnt that Telangana leaders are endorsing TJAC views on most of the ‘Terms of Reference’ included in the Cabinet Note. The BJP has no objection if Hyderabad remains as joint capital for ten years while the TJAC wants that it should be restricted to only three years.
However, it is echoing the sentiment of the JAC for according full authority over Hyderabad to Telangana government. The saffron party will appeal to the GoM to concede Telangana with ten districts with no change of boundaries and would also categorically state that they were opposed to giving status of Union Territory to Hyderabad which is also under consideration of the GoM, a key Telangana leader said.
As far as Polavaram is concerned, BJP Telangana leaders will insist on change of design so that displacement of many villages in Khammam district could be averted.
