New Delhi: The Group of Ministers (GoM) on Telangana will meet again on November 27, when it is expected to finalise its report. The GoM Report and the Draft Telangana Bill will go to the Union Cabinet on November 28.

After the GoM meeting on Thursday, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said, “At the GoM meeting, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Finance Minister P Chidambaram were not present. We have decided to meet next week.

We will try to push the proposal as early as possible. We have to discuss multiple options. We are in discussions. We will bring the Bill in the Winter Session of Parliament.

” The next GoM meeting is expected to be full-fledged, which would be attended by all the seven members. All the issues would be finetuned and the GoM will finalise its report to the Union Cabinet. There are some politically-contentious issues like Hyderabad, which need to be finetuned and it is expected to be done at the next meeting on November 27, before finalising its report.

On Thursday, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) vice-chairman M Shashidhar Reddy urged the GoM to increase the number of Assembly seats in Telangana to 153, besides one nominated, from the existing 119, by adding 34 more seats.

This would mean that in the 17 Lok Sabha seats, each seat will have 9 Assembly segments, instead of 7 Assembly segments. Shashidhar Reddy pointed out that prior to the division of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand region had 25 Assembly seats and four Lok Sabha seats.

The 25 Assembly seats were raised to 70 Assembly seats in Uttarakhand after it was formed into a separate state, besides one nominated member.
