Jagan promises loan waiver

Narasapuram: YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy demanded on Wednesday that the government should waive the loans and give fresh loans to the cyclone-affected farmers in the West Godavari district. “Be patient. Even if the present government refuses to waive farm loans and give fresh loans, our government would come in next four months. You would get relief,” he told farmers and fishermen in Lakshmaneswaram and Sarva villages near Narasapuram town.

Jaganmohan Reddy who visited cyclone affected areas in East Godavari district on Tuesday came to Narasapuram in West Godavari district on Wednesday. He inspected paddy fields destroyed by the recent cyclone Helen in the surrounding villages.

He visited the houses destroyed by the heavy rains and strong winds during the cyclone. The farmers and fishermen of the villages told him that they did not get any relief from the government agencies. He also inquired from them how his father’s pet schemes, old age pension and Arogyasri were being implemented.
