The BJP Seemandhra unit on Wednesday decided to appeal to the national leaders not to support the AP State Reorganization Bill that neglected the interests of the region.
A delegation comprising key leaders from the region would go to Delhi and meet them in this connection. This decision was taken at the meeting of the state BJP unit that was held here on Wednesday to discuss the measures that needed to be taken up for the 2014 elections.
The meeting was attended by the office-bearers and presidents of all district units.
The Seemandhra leaders were learnt to have expressed their displeasure about the contents of the draft Bill which they felt did not take into account interests of Seemandhra region.
Even the demand to include certain areas of Bhadrachalam in the residuary state which would face inundation by Polavaram project fell on deaf ears, the BJP leaders lamented.
They also planned to organise programmes to set copies of the Bill on fire in all districts of the region.
However, senior leaders from the state party suggested them not to resort to such actions.
Talking to The Hans India, senior leader K Haribabu said that they would go to New Delhi to impress upon the national unit to mount pressure on the union government for making amendments in the Bill to ensure that justice was done to the Seemandhra region.
