Medak: Nara Lokesh, son of Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu and head of Heritage, on Friday launched a welfare fund for the benefit of dairy farmers in the district. He said the fund was intended to provide relief to ryots in distress.
Participating in an interaction with farmers in Heritage office at Adivimasid village, in Mulug mandal, he claimed that the firm was launched when the Chittoor cooperative dairy was unable to pay milk farmers. He wanted dairy ryots to supply quality milk to Heritage.
The company would launch a free insurance scheme for them. Ten paise each from a litre of milk sold by a farmer and the firm would be sent to the welfare fund. Lokesh denied that Naidu had described agriculture as waste, claiming that it was a deliberate disinformation campaign.
