MLAs hit out at Sailajanath. Protesting against the minister’s comments, TRS MLAs raised ‘Jai Telangana’ and ‘go back Sailajanath’ slogans.

Hyderabad: Minister for Legislative Affairs S Sailajanath's statement that the Telangana formation was against the spirit of the Constitution and the principle of linguistic State policy triggered a war of words between pro- and anti-Telangana members during the debate on AP State Reorganisation Bill in the Assembly.

Protesting against the minister’s comments, TRS MLAs raised ‘Jai Telangana’ and ‘go back Sailajanath’ slogans.
Amidst the ruckus, Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy said it was not good on the part of a responsible minister to make such statements in the august house.
“The Centre took the decision to bifurcate the State as per the guidelines laid down in the Constitution. There is no violation of Constitution as claimed by the minister,” he said.
Reddy’s timely intervention paved the way for TRS MLAs to return to their seats. TRS floor leader E Rajendar questioned the minister as to why the latter was still continuing in his post if he felt that the Centre took a unilateral decision on the State division issue.
TDP leader Ashok Gajapathi Raju said, “It is unfortunate that the ministers are participating in debates. The practice in the past is that the members used to debate and the ministers used to reply on issues pertaining to their respective departments. Instead of showing collective responsibility, the ministers are showing collective irresponsibility.”
