Hyderabad: State Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal said that the Election Commission would issue new poly vinyl chloride (PVC) - elector photo identity card (EPIC)-- with colour photograph from January 25 to newly enrolled 18-19-year-old electors on the occasion of National Voters’ Day.
Addressing the media here on Friday, Bhanwarlal said that the remaining new electors would be given PVC EPICs later through the booth-level officers concerned before the end of February.
He said that the enrollment of new electors during 2013 touched 76.26 lakh as on January 24 and the election officials removed 33.64 lakh names from the list after finding them as dead, shifted and duplicate entries. He stated that the election officials achieved 100 per cent photo coverage of voters.
Referring to the strength of electorate in the State, he said that the total number electors in the State was 6.24 crore and the final voters list would be published on January 31.
The EPICs will be issued through 4,800 e-Seva and Mee-Seva centres in the State.
On National Voters’ Day celebrations, a pledge would be administered to the citizens participating in the function at Ravindra Bharathi, Bhanwarlal informed. “Elector can know whether his or her name is enrolled in the list through search facilities on website and also through SMS,” he said adding, “For SMS, they can type VOTE < Voter ID card number > and send SMS to 9246280027.”
