AAP feels Samaikya heat. The AAP leaders were interrupted during a press conference and were forced to flee away from the venue after severe pressure from the Seemandhra activists.
Vijayawada: The activists of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were literally chased away by Samaikyandhra supporters when the former tried to convene a press meet here on Sunday. The leaders of AAP, which emerged as champion of common man with impressive victory in Delhi elections, faced the ire of Samaikyandhra supporters for the former’s inclination for creation of smaller States.
The AAP leaders were interrupted during a press conference and were forced to flee away from the venue after severe pressure from the Seemandhra activists.
A group of Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi supporters led by convener Naraharisetti Srihari and other student activists barged into the press conference hall where AAP State leaders D Ramakrishna Raju, Snehalatha, Umashakthi, Vijayprakash and Kiran Kumar were interacting with media.
The Parirakshana Samithi demanded AAP leaders to withdraw support rendered to smaller States and also asked the AAP leaders to raise slogans in favour of Samaikyandhra. This aggressive attitude of the Samaikyandhra supporters resulted in tension. When the situation turned from bad to worse, the police gained entry.
The dissatisfied AAP leaders proceeded to their meeting that was scheduled after the press conference. The Samaikyandhra Student JAC later tried to stall the meeting of the party leaders at Thummalapalli Kalakshetram following which the city police took the agitators into custody. However, during the meeting, the State coordination committee convener of AAP D Ramakrishan Raju said that the forthcoming elections in Andhra Pradesh will be similar to one that Delhi had experienced recently.
