BJP for Telangana Bill to standing committee?, division of AP, M Venkaiah Naidu, Telanagana Bill. Incidentally, the BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu is the chairman of this committee.

Hyderabad: While the UPA government asserts that it would expedite the division of AP, doubts are being raised on whether it would really succeed in its efforts are not.

According to source, the BJP which had taken a pro-Telangana stance has of late been saying that the division of the State cannot be done by ignoring the interests of the Seemandhra region. Sources say it is exploring the possibility of demanding that the Bill be referred to the standing committee of the Parliament.

Incidentally, the BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu is the chairman of this committee.

It is learnt that the BJP central leadership is exploring this possibility and is likely to put forward this demand at the meeting of all political parties on Monday with the Speaker to discuss about the business to be taken up during the budget session.

BJP central leadership appears to be having second thoughts now in view of the developments that had taken place after the CWC decision on July 30.

The recent expression of views in the State Assembly, the explosion of anger in the streets of Seemandhra region and the resolution rejecting the State Reorganisation Bill 2013 by the Assembly seems to have made the BJP rethink on the issue. The BJP leaders reportedly feel it would not be proper to rush with the process, and hence may demand that the Bill be sent to the standing committee.
