Hyderabad: Over 400 students of Osmania University on Monday staged a protest at OU NCC Gate opposing regularisation of contract employees by the State government. The agitating students called for a bandh in all Telangana universities on Tuesday. The protest erupted as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief, K Chandrasekhar Rao, announced recently in Gadwal at a rally that all the jobs of contract employees would be regularised in Telangana State. The agitating students said that regularising contract workers was part of the vote bank politics by every leader in the State.

“No contract worker in the state government played a crucial role in getting Telangana Statehood. It’s the students who struggled, went behind bars and achieved Telangana state. If all the jobs of contract employees are regularised, what would be the fate of the students who have been struggling hard to crack a government,” said an agitating student.
“Whichever party comes up with regularisation of contract employees, we would fight like how we did in achieving Telangana State. If the decision is not rolled back in the next 48 hours we would sit for a relay hunger strike in the university campus,” said Nanda Kishore, a student of the university.
