After a stellar performance in urban body elections in Seemandhra, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) repeated its performance in rural elections. In Telangana, TRS made a good show in three districts with clear majority in all the ZPTC seats.

Of the total 13 districts in Seemandhra region, Telugu Desam gained control over nine districts -- Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Guntur, Krishna, Chittoor and Anantapur ZPTCs. YSR Congress Party, which gave a tough fight to the TD, finished second in the run by bagging the remaining four districts of the region- Prakasam, Kadapa, Nellore and Kurnool.

Public ire against the Congress was clearly evident in the polls and the party was almost decimated in the region. Except for two ZPTC seats in Kurnool, the party did not even open the account in other districts. The total number of ZPTC seats in Seemandhra were 653, of which TDP gained 373 and YSRC 275.

Even the maximum MPTCs were in TD’s kitty with 5,216 seats against YSRC which won in 4,199 seats. The total number of MPTC seats in Seemandhra were 10,092. In Telangana, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won Adilabad, Nizamabad and Karimnagar with clear majority. While, Congress won Nalgonda bagging maximum ZPTC seats and in Mahabubnagar, Warangal and Rangareddy districts it was in the forefront with maximum seats but resulting in hung houses.

However, the maximum MPTC seats in the region have been won by Congress. Of the total 6,480 MPTC seats in the region Congress holds control over 2,351 seats while TRS won 1,860 seats. TDP bagged 1,061 seats. Of the total 441 ZPTC seats TRS gained 191 and Congress 176. In Khammam, TD was ahead with maximum ZPTC seats. The MPTC and ZPTC vote counting that began at 8 am on Monday at 8 am concluded at 12 noon on Tuesday.
