Hyderabad: K Chandrasekhar Rao assumed office as first Chief Minister of Telangana at 12.57 pm in Secretariat on Monday. A group of priests offered their blessings and presented him with portraits of gods after Rao entered his chambers in Samatha Block. Later a group of IAS and IPS officers greeted him with bouquets. His cabinet ministers besides his daughter and Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha were present on the occasion.

Later Rao chaired an informal meeting of the Cabinet. It gave its approval to Telangana Logo designed by Artist Laxman Aelay. The logo has two iconic monuments of Telangana-Charminar and Kakatiya Kala Thoranam besides Ashok Chakra. The new Chief Minister in fact put his first signature on this file.

Later briefing reporters, Home minister Naini Narsimha Reddy said that approval of the logo was the only agenda. When asked about Assembly session, he replied that it might be held for four to five days after June 9. In the mean time, Cabinet will hold a meeting to discuss and take major policy decisions. He stated that Cabinet expansion might be taken up any time after Assembly session.

Rao vows to make T the richest State

Soon after entering Secretariat premises, the new Chief Minister offered prayers at Nalla Pochamma temple. From there he took a walk till entrance of Samatha Block where a dias was erected by government employees to welcome him.

Addressing them Rao urged their co-operation to transform Telangana into a richest State in the country.

There are no bosses for us, our boss is only the public, he said. Rao asked the employees to bring to his issue any problem confronting them which he would be happy to address quickly.

Chandrasekhar Rao met High Court Chief Justice Kalyan Sen Gupta in the evening.
