The annual Feast of St. Anthony will be celebrated at the Historic Shrine at Bazarghat, Hyderabad, on June 13.

The annual Feast of St. Anthony will be celebrated at the Historic Shrine at Bazarghat, Hyderabad, on June 13. The Feast is the culmination of 13-day long Novena prayers which began on June 1, with the Flag Hoisting.

The Shrine of St. Anthony of Bazarghat, is the first Shrine in Hyderabad dedicated to the Great and popular saint of the Catholic Church. The Miraculous Statue of St. Anthony is believed to be brought from Italy nearly 150 years ago by Italian missionaries to spread the devotion in Hyderabad. St. Anthony is also known as a great wonder worker and a saint with great miraculous powers.
On the Feast Day on June 13, The Holy Mass in Tamil will be celebrated at 6.00 a,m by Fr. Anthony Sagaraja, at 7.30 a.m. in Telugu by Fr. Jojappa, at 9.45 a.m. by Fr. Michael D’souza and at 6.00 p.m. concelebrated high mass by Fr. Benny. A grand car procession will be taken out with the 150-year-old statue of St.Anthony from the shrine premises and pass towards Income Tax towers, Niloufer X roads before returning to the Shrine. The public veneration of the statue and prayers will be held throughout the day and night. Thousands of pilgrims are expected to participate in the celebrations.
The Parish Priest Rev. Fr. C. Arogyam, Asst Parish Priest Fr. G. Arogya Reddy along with the church volunteers are making elaborate arrangement for the devout conduct of the festival.
