Is Vijayawada temporary capital of AP?
While, the Center appointed Sivaramakrishnan Committee is in the course of gauging various potential locations to choose the new capital for Andhra Pradesh, if the buzz is to be believed the state will first have a temporary capital before a novel capital is developed. CM Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with the members of the State-level advisory committee on capital City for this decision to take effect. A delegation from global consultancy McKinsey gave a presentation titled “Vision for AP Capital”, during the meeting.

Naidu asked the committee members to lookout for an ad-hoc capital that will house key administrative offices until all the infrastructure and other projects are completed in the capital city. The temporary capital should have all the infrastructure amenities. If the tale is to be believed Vijayawada, the commercial capital of Andhra Pradesh before the bifurcation, is likely to transpire as the provisional capital. Assessment of the buildings available in Vijayawada is going on and also some of the government offices have started relocating.
