AP state assembly: What it achieved in this session?

After the state bifurcation, there have been two assembly sessions of the Andhra Pradesh state assembly. The mandatory procedural norms were undertaken for obvious reasons by the assembly during the first session. Nevertheless, as far as the second session of the state assembly is concerned, it is intended for the very crucial discussions. Despite the fact that the successor state was in a great crisis and was supposed to undertake discussions on various issues, no responsible attempt has been made by either the ruling party or the opposition parties.

The session passed both agricultural budget and general budget during this session. As usual it was welcomed by the ruling party and criticised by the opposition parties. Even during the presentation of the budget the session was not held peacefully.

The other crucial decision taken during the session was the announcement of the capital of the residuary state. Even this announcement has taken place within the mayhem.

From the other end, so many problems which are being faced by the state were neglected from the discussions. Are these assembly sessions meant only for the discussions of the parties vested in their own interests or for the issues concerning the people who elected them to the legislative institutions. So mch of time was just killed with adjournments and bycotts. Definitely it is not the spirit of the sessions of the legislative institutions. Oppositions are not meant for opposing everything and ruling government are not the one to impose everything as they wish. It is the crucial period for the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states to address many issues. As it is rightly said a good beginning for the good ending, if everything is sorted out amicably and the people’s representatives work in the interest of the people, won’t there be a looming development?
