Hyderabad: It appears to be dharna time for the Opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh. While the Congress has decided hold protests against the governments delay in implementing schemes like loan waiver, the YSR Congress Party will organise dharnas at mandal headquarters on October 16 to protest against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government’s apathy towards DWACRA women groups and farmers by going back on the election promise of waiving all loans. Interacting with DWACRA women groups in Kadapa on Thursday party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy said, “The State government has gone back on waiving the loans of DWACRA women groups and they have now become defaulters.” “The loan waiver has a telling effect on the economic activity of DWACRA groups and Chandrababu Naidu has promised moon during electioneering but after assuming power he has been trying to find ways and means to slash the welfare schemes and water them down by scanty budgetary allocations,” the Opposition leader said.

He said members of the DWACRA groups told him that they had seen ‘pavala vaddi’ scheme and interest-free loans during YSR’s term and now they were standing as defaulters before the banks as Chandrababu Naidu had deceived them by going back on his promises. Chandrababu Naidu had showered promises without working out the modalities properly with the sole intention to come to power and after assuming office he was now searching ways to slash the welfare measures besides delaying and diluting them, he said.

Jagan further said to cover up the scanty budgetary allocations, Naidu was cutting down the number of beneficiaries and had set up a committee to shorten the list of pensioners.

He said to fight this injustice, his party would hold dharnas at mandal headquarters on October 16.
