Hyderabad: The YSR Congress Party is gearing up for organising a series of dharnas in all 663 mandals in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday against the failures of the TDP government during the last five months.

Stating this here on Tuesday, YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said that his party would highlight the failures of the government during the statewide dharnas that would be held in the first week of every month for a period of three months.

Jagan said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had made false promises to the people and was not taking any steps to implement them. Even the most important promises to farmers and women on waiver of their loans could not be kept.

One agriculture season (kharif) was over and still the government was dragging its feet over implementing the promises, he criticized, adding that similar was the case with the DWCRA loan waiver. He said a dharna would he held in front of all District Collector offices on December 5 and in January the agitation would be intensified by organising a two- day hunger strike in Godavari districts on January 6 and 7, in which he would also participate.

The YSRCP chief alleged that Naidu had washed off his hands by making a meager allocation of Rs 5,000 crore towards farm loan waiver, when the cumulative interest itself was Rs 28,000 crore.

Farmers were not getting fresh loans and crop insurance because the loan waiver scheme had not been implemented.

To a query, he said that his party supported the government’s stand that water levels at Srisailam project should be maintained at 854 feet level so that Rayalaseema could get water from Pothireddypadu project.

He alleged that the Chief Ministers of Telangana and AP were exploiting the water and neither of had any concern for the arid Rayalaseema region.
