Ongole: Transport Minister Siddha Raghava Rao on Sunday bluntly told Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Director Dr B Anjaiah to go on leave if he cannot discharge his duties effectively.
Rao expressed anger at Anjaiah when inmates of Ongole RIMS Medical College Girls Hostel complained to him about their travails because of lack of power and water supply in the hostel. The medicos alleged that the hostel was devoid of even minimum facilities and security.
The Minister took the RIMS direct to task for failing to redress the problems raised by the hostel inmates. Rao warned him to either improve the facilities in four days or go on leave.
Rao, who visited the institute also met the students and enquired about their problems, expressing his displeasure over lack of proper amenities and poor sanitation in the hospital. He warned that stern action would be taken against officials if they failed to run RIMS on sound lines. He directed them to improve basic amenities, including water supply and electricity.
The development works in the RIMS were being carried on snail’s pace though they were to have been completed by December last year itself.
