Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party will organise dharnas in front of all the District Collectorates in Andhra Pradesh on December 5, protesting against the TDP government’s failure in fully implementing the loan waiver scheme for farmers and DWCRA groups..

  • Its chief deplores that farmers, DWCRA women in crisis
  • They have become defaulters, believing in TDP promises
  • It requires over `1 lakh crore, but TDP govt made a meagre budget allocation

Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said that the party’s agitation would voice the concerns and ire of people who felt cheated as the TDP government had failed in keeping the promises and for also downsizing various welfare schemes to match its meagre budgetary allocations.

“Normally it takes a couple of years for the anti-incumbency factor to set in for any government, but it is already widespread and very strong in Andhra Pradesh in less than six months, as the TDP government is pursuing anti-people policies. We will be the voice of the people and will hold protest dharnas across the State with the affected sections joining us in large numbers,” he said.

“The deception in loan waiver scheme is very clear as the agriculture loans account for Rs 87,000 crore and farmers are forced to pay penal interest at the rate of 14 per cent. But, the budgetary allocation is very meager and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu boasts that he has cleared 20 per cent of loan waiver,” Jagan said

DWCRA groups have also9 become defaulters as they too did not repay the loans totaling to Rs 14,000 crore, believing the poll promises of Naidu and are now in deep trouble, the YSRCP chief added.
