Athletics meet at Sainik School concludes

Vizianagaram: The 53rd Annual Athletics Meet of Sainik School, Korukonda, came to a close on Tuesday with some keenly contested events and a march past. Anil Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager of East Coast Railways, Visakhapatnam, was the chief guest. He reviewed the closing ceremony march past and gave away prizes and the championship trophies to the winners of various events and to the champion houses.

Cadets S Uma Mahesh of Class XII (Moghul House), Shivam Kumar of Class X (Moghul House), Reeju Raju of Class VIII (Pallava House) and Vikram Kumar of Class VI (Pallava House) were adjudged champions for A, B, C and D divisions, respectively. Moghul House was declared the Champion House among A and B divisions (Senior divisions), while Pallava House was declared the Champion House among C and D divisions (Junior houses), respectively. The prestigious Uday Bhaskar Trophy for Best Sportsman of the Year was awarded to S Uma Mahesh of Class XII (Moghul House).

Addressing the gathering, Mr Anil Kumar congratulated the prize winners and encouraged the runners-up. He complimented all the cadets for exhibiting sportsman spirit and urged them to follow the great traditions of the games and the school. He further said that the Sainik School, Korukonda, was not only known for academics but also for making its cadets physically fit for life.

Later, he declared the closure of the athletics meet.
