Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party on Wednesday said the proceedings of the just-concluded winter session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly were not held in the true democratic spirit. The treasury benches hoodwinked all norms.

Addressing the press here, party deputy floor leader Jyothula Nehru said the allegations levelled by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that YSR Congress was not interested in the capital formation at the specified place and the party was against the welfare of Rayalaseema, more so in terms of irrigation, were totally baseless. Adding further he said the YSR party condemned the attitude of Naidu.

His party was not against the capital coming up at any place and it only wanted to highlight some of the lacuna in the Capital Region Development Authority (CREDA) Bill.

The party has only been demanding the capital should be centrally located and it should benefit all sections of people, he clarified.

On the Rayalaseema issue, Telugu Desam government has been trying to hijack YSR schemes and put its seal on a new format.

The State suddenly bringing up the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme into the picture with a plan outlay of Rs 1,300 crore was only a gimmick and was in no way useful for the Rayalaseema as the flood waters in Godavari would be for a brief period.

The aim of the project was to pump flood water from Godavari to Krishna basin though Polavaram right bank, Nehru said.
