Vijayawada: National BJP president Amit Shah asserted here on Friday hat the party’s growth was not a threat to its alliance partner Telugu Desam in the State. Shah told the media that the party was focusing on the membership drive. It would enroll over 35 lakh members in three months. The party’s growth in the State would not have any adverse impact on its relations with TDP.

On the likely entry of senior Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister N Kirankumar Reddy, into BJP Shah said it would welcome any leader who believed in its philosophy. Asked about the special category status to Andhra Pradesh, he said it was being examined by the Centre. The party had supported the promised special categorystatus during the debate on State bifurcation. It would continue to back the demand.

The BJP president alleged that the UPA government had destroyed the system and bred corruption in the country. The eight per cent growth rate during the Vajpayee government had come down to 4.5.The NDA government, headed by Narendra Modi, was working to restore the growth. Shah claimed that the party had identified 700 black money accounts. They were referred to the Special Investigation Team. The government was committed to fulfilling the election promise of bringing back black money lying in foreign banks.

He said Modi was addressing the increasing unemployment problem through ‘make in India’ policy, which would boost largemanufacturing activity. The governmenthad launched a corporation to provide skill training for youth to join the manufacturing activity. The ‘Make in India’ policy and the corporation would address the unemployment problem.

Shah said the government had made several changes to the India’s agreement with the World Trade Organisation. The revised agreement would help farmers get remunerative prices. The “Adarsh Gram” scheme would help in providing basic infrastructure in rural areas, with every MP adopting a village. Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu and Nirmala Sitaraman, State Ministers Kamineni Srinivas and P Manikyala Rao and BJP State president K Haribabu were present.
