On Saturday, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) said that about 4 kg of Gold worth Rs 1.2 Crore was seized from an aircraft after it landed at the Visakhapatnam airport.
DRI officers in Hyderabad, based on a tip-off intercepted a passenger who arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport from Dubai on Friday. The passenger confessed to concealing 40 gold bars in the washroom of the aircraft which was on its way to Visakhapatnam.
A DRI release said that the officers of DRI at Visakhapatnam carried out a search on the aircraft’s arrival and recovered the gold bars while the passenger was remanded in 13-day judicial custody.
