TDP MP says that Centre not in a hurry to grant special status to AP He said that the Centre continues to be reluctant even after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Ministers from the State were doing their best.

On Saturday, TDP MP from Anantapur, J.C. Diwakar Reddy who is known for his outspoken nature said the Centre may deny special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Diwakar Reddy said the Centre is least bothered about granting the special category status to the State and all the MP’s efforts have come to nothing. He said that the Centre continues to be reluctant even after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Ministers from the State were doing their best.

Adding that he’s prepared to resign to create pressure on the Union Government to grant special (category) status, but given the majority in the Lok Sabha, the Union Government seems hardly bothered.

Mr. Diwakar Reddy on the land row said around 50,000 acres of land would be required to construct the State capital but he is against acquiring prime agriculture land for the purpose and alternatives should be looked.
