Anantapur: State Bar Council Member A Rami Reddy demanded setting up of the High Court in Rayalaseema region. In a press release here on Sunday, he said it was the responsibility of the Central and State governments to take precautionary measures and prevent injustice to the Rayalaseema region after bifurcation of the State.
Rami Reddy said under the Gentlemen’s Agreement in 1952, it was decided to set up the High Court in Guntur as the capital was situated in Kurnool. Now, as the capital was being constructed adjoining the Guntur region, the High Court should be in the Rayalaseema region and the government should take this proposal seriously.
He said the Rayalaseema region would get some solace and recognition if the High court was established here. With the advocates boycotting duties for a week from Monday demanding the shifting of the High Court to Navyandhra Pradesh, he said the lawyers of the Rayalaseema would extend their wholehearted support if the High court was established in the Rayalaseema region.
