Sand Mafia Loot Worth Rs.10, 000 Crore: Yanamala Ramakrishnudu

The sand mafia in united Andhra Pradesh has looted public wealth of Rs 10,000 crore over last ten years causing huge loss to the public exchequer.

This was disclosed by officials before the Group of Ministers meeting on corruption control headed by the state Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. "State revenue of Rs.1, 000 crore per annum has been looted by the sand mafia causing a cumulative loss of Rs.10, 000 crore,” officials told the committee.

The state had earned an income of Rs 1, 300 crore in the last one year after the sand reaches were given to the management of the SHG's, i.e. Rs. 300 crore more than average, the officials informed the committee.
