Cash for vote call records

New Delhi: Caught between the 'devil and the deep sea', the telecom operators of AP and Telangana knocked the doors of the Supreme Court here on Wednesday praying for its intervention in bailing them out from the muddle. The cash-for-vote case and the subsequent telephone tapping allegations have landed the operators in trouble with the AP cops insisting on production of call lists while the Telangana government allegedly warning against the same, it is said.

Bharti, Reliance and Idea are among telecom operators who have approached the court seeking immunity legal action against them. "If we don't hand over the records to the Andhra Pradesh government, we will be penalized by them. If we do it, then we will be punished by Telangana," lawyers of the telecom firms said in the court. This case will come up for hearing on Thursday.
