AP: Petrol, Diesel prices to be reduced

The Andhra Pradesh government is all set to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre and a notification is likely to be issued. With this decision, AP govt will lose about Rs 80 crore through VAT on petrol and diesel per year.

Previously, the government had increased the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 4 per litre which resulted in drop in sales in the five border districts of AP as the fuel was costlier compared to the neighbouring states.

The dealers complained of losses in Anantapur, Kadapa, Chittoor, Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam districts. Hence they requested the government to withdraw the enhanced price on diesel.
