Post Cards to mark Godavari Pushkaralu

Postal Circle is proud to inform that in order to commemorate the “Godavari Pushkarams” observed from 14th to 25th July, 2015, the Department has released a set of 16 [sixteen] post cards with unique numbers. Sri.B.V.Sudhakar, Chief Postmaster General released these pictorial post cards here on Friday.

Postal Circle is proud to inform that in order to commemorate the “Godavari Pushkarams” observed from 14th to 25th July, 2015, the Department has released a set of 16 [sixteen] post cards with unique numbers. Sri.B.V.Sudhakar, Chief Postmaster General released these pictorial post cards here on Friday.

The special feature of these post cards is that each post card illustrates an important place in the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, along which the River Godavari flows and such a ‘Postcard’ bears special cancellation impression of office of posting and also the delivery stamp of different offices [places], where the River Godavari merges into the Bay of Bengal.
As you are aware, the River Godavari having its origin at Triambakeshwar in Nasik , Maharashtra enters in Telangana State at Kandakurthi village touches some important places in Telangana is., Basara, Dharmapuri, Kaleshwaram and Bhadrachalam, and then flows into Andhra Pradesh State towards places such as – Pattiseema, Kovvur, Kotilingalarevu, Dowlaiswaram, Ravulapalem, Kotipalli, Yanam, Appanapalli, Odalarevu, Narsapur and Atarvedi. The River Godavari splits into two major distributaries at Dowleswaram as Vriddha Gautami and Vasishta Godavari, with Vasishta Godavari again splitting into Vasishta and Vainateya; and Vriddha Gautami splitting into Gautami & Nilarevu flowing for a total of 1465 KMs.
These post cards 16 in number in each set is priced at Rs.1000/- a set and beautifully packed with special embroidery work at its right top corner showing river routing from its origin till its mouth point. These post cards are released in limited number i.e., 500 sets and made available for sale in five [5] Philately Bureaux in Telangana and AP State. Interested philatelists are requested to call on the Philately Bureaux of their choice from 26.07.2015 and can place their orders.
