Self immolation bid by Cong activist
A Congress activist, B Muni Kama Koti (40) attempted immolate himself at the ‘Poru Bata’ meeting on Saturday even as dozens of party workers were shell-shocked at the sudden incident. Some of his friends, party activists and police tried to save him but in vain. He collapsed and fell on the road after he sustained severe burns.
Tirupati: A Congress activist, B Muni Kama Koti (40) attempted immolate himself at the ‘Poru Bata’ meeting on Saturday even as dozens of party workers were shell-shocked at the sudden incident. Some of his friends, party activists and police tried to save him but in vain. He collapsed and fell on the road after he sustained severe burns.
He was immediately rushed to the SVRR government general hospital by the police. His condition was stated to be critical. Eyewitnesses said that Koti who was sitting calmly on the platform (roadside) near the dais suddenly rose and alighted himself, raising slogans demanding special category status to the state. It is learnt that Koti doused himself with kerosene before coming to the meeting and resorted to the extreme step, after the meeting commenced.
