Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday directed the Ministry of Labour Welfare to open call centres and control room to monitor the welfare of the workers both in the organised and unorganised sectors. The Chief Minister held a review meeting in his camp office with the Minister K Atchannidu and the officials on the workers welfare department.
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday directed the Ministry of Labour Welfare to open call centres and control room to monitor the welfare of the workers both in the organised and unorganised sectors. The Chief Minister held a review meeting in his camp office with the Minister K Atchannidu and the officials on the workers welfare department.
He directed the officials to collect the data of the drivers and their children to pay scholarships for their education. He also wanted them to feed the data of road accidents and payment of insurance to the drivers in case of death. He directed them to complete the insurance payment to the victims without any delay.
The CM asked the officials to record the number of road accidents and deaths in a year and analyse the data to reduce the accidents. The Chief Minister asked the officials to extend all welfare schemes to the workers in both the organised and unorganised sectors. He instructed the officials to hold talks with the managements of industries and make them partners in the workers welfare.
He said that the government would focus on providing permanent houses for the workers and establish townships. Minister for Labour K Atchannaidu told the Chief Minister that the department had already collected the data from 3.77 lakh transport drivers out of the total 5.41 lakh in the State.
He assured the Chief Minister of completing digitisation of the data of the remaining in a couple of months.Referring to the accident insurance claims, the Minister said that they received 28 claim applications of which 22 were cleared so far. The other applications were under scrutiny, he said.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to speed up process of clearance of insurance claims for the drivers by establishing special mechanism. The CMO assistant Secretary PS Pradyumna and other officials of the labour department were present at the review meeting.
