To protest against the additional value-added tax (VAT) on petroleum products in the state, all petrol pumps in Andhra Pradesh will go on a 24-hour strike from midnight August 30.

All the petrol bunks under the Andhra Pradesh Petrol Pump Dealers’ Association (APPDA) will be closed from midnight Sunday till midnight Monday. The dealers association alleged that the additional VAT being collected by the AP Government is affecting the business of the petroleum dealers.

Consumers are going to other states which are collecting less VAT on petrol and this affect the sales. The dealers have also demanded the state government to reduce the VAT.
