Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had almost made up his mind on the location of the Navaratna cities, the nine internal cities of the new capital – Amaravati. A brief note on the location of these cities and their layout was sent to the Singapore government to include the same in the master plan.
According to the sources, the nine cities of Administrative, Finance, Justice, Knowledge, Education, Health, Tourism, Electronics and Spiritual, would come up in the existing 29 villages of the capital area. Each of these cities is likely to spread over two to three existing villages, the sources added.
The Administrative City, which is the seat of the political capital, is likely to come up around Rayapudi village, while the Uddhandarayunipalem, where the foundation ceremony was held, would house the Financial City. The Financial City is likely to cover Mandadam and its suburb Tallayapalem, where Bhumi Pooja was conducted earlier this year.
The High Court and the other judiciary-related establishments would come up in the Nelapadu village, which is called the Justice City. Interestingly, this was the first village to have offered their lands and even houses for the capital. The farmers and the farm labourers from this village have met the Chief Minister on October 26 and volunteered to vacate the village for the capital. The agriculture labourers have even donated Rs 62,000 from their pension to build the capital.
Sakhamuru and Bethapudi villages, which are close to the Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, would house Knowledge and Electronic cities respectively, while Inavolu and Krishnayapalem would house Education and Health cities. Interestingly, Krishnayapalem and Venkatapalem are the two adjacent villages, where the prestigious nature clinic of Mantena Satyanarayana Raju is located. Setting up a Health City here is seen as an added advantage to the existing nature clinic of Mantena.
The historical Undavalli, which is known for its caves, would house the Tourism City. This would enable the adjacent Penumaka village to be part of the internal city. Though the two villages are yet to come under the land pooling system, the Chief Minister is contemplating on announcing special package to these farmers and take away their lands by December-end.
The new package is likely to be acceptable to the farmers as the lands here were costlier even before the capital location was announced. The Chief Minister had finalised Ananthavaram and Abbirajupalem villages to locate Spiritual and Sports cities respectively.
However, the two are yet to be finalised. The Chief Minister had earlier announced that the new capital would have an international stadium and plans to locate the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) here. If this works out, Abbirajupalem would house the Sports City.
