With Andhra Pradesh Government announcing the land acquisition notification, CPM activists and leaders staged a protest objecting the move. AP Govt announced that 300 acres of land would be acquitted in Thullur mandal and will be followed by other mandals for the construction of AP Capital, Amaravati.

The protest lead to a clash between the CPM leaders of Undavalli region and the police as the latter prevented the state government effigy being burnt. The CPM leaders stated that the police mishandled them while they were protesting against the state government without causing any chaos.
