On the occasion of the National Deworming Day, city Mayor Koneru Sridhar distributed Albendazole tablets to the students of Patamata Zilla Parishad High School here on Thursday.

The distribution of these tablets at the Schools has been a practice in the Municipal Corporation to fight the parasitic worm infestations among the teenagers and children.

Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar said that the medication supplies are being provided at 105 Municipal schools, 99 aided schools and 3 Government colleges since 2011. Students aged between 5 and 18 are asked to take a dosage of these tablets that help destroy the bad bacteria, at a tender age. The medical wing of the corporation has carried out the programme successfully, he said.

Later, he called out to the students to come forward for maintaining clean and tidy premises at the school and at home. He advised them to take out a special cleanliness programme on every Saturday at their school, to participate and promote Swacch Bharat. Dr Shoba Rani, health educator Kantha Kumari, medical officers, school principals and others were present during the programme.
