Venkaiah assures Centre’s help to AP
Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu conducted aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Chittoor and Nellore districts on Saturday.
Nellore: Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu conducted aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Chittoor and Nellore districts on Saturday.
He observed conditions in Venkatagiri, Srikalahasti, Gudur, Naidupet and Nellore areas. He had earlier cancelled the visit due to bad weather and finally undertook the survey as there was some respite in the morning.
He said that he would ask the Union government to send a Central team to assess losses due to heavy rainfall in Kadapa, Chittoor and Nellore districts. The team would recommend appropriate financial assistance after receiving a report from the State government.
Venkaiah said Nellore district had faced severe losses in terms of agriculture, aquaculture, infrastructure and tanks.
He visited the huge breach on the National Highway at Manubole and inspected ongoing works and interacted with officials on other problems on the highway. He will participate in a review on the situation on Sunday along with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
