Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church Archi-Bishop Right Reverend Paradesi Babu, addressing a Carol Songs Service, said that the origin of Christmas Carols in the Holy Bible goes back to the day when the angel of God descends on a winter foggy night and appears to shepherds watching their flock amidst a camp fire and announces the birth of Christ. Just at the same time, the angels fill the shepherds camp with angelic music and proclaims goodwill to all and peace on earth. The angels also tell the shepherds “fear not. Behold I bring to you glad tidings of great joy which shall be all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior which is Christ the Lord.”

The angelic appearance and proclamation of good news to people about the birth of a Savior is the basis for Carol Bands to go to homes to proclaim the birth of Christ and also sing the angelic songs. Children’s Missionary Brother Anand says that Children and youth enjoy a lot during the Christmas season participating in Christmas playlet and participation in music performances.
