In connection with Vaikuntha Dwadasi, ‘Chakra Snanam’ was performed to ‘Sudarshana Chakrattalwar’, the holy disc of Lord Venkateswara in the early hours of Tuesday in Swamy Pushkarini. The priests carried ‘Sudarshana Chakrattalwar’ into the tank and gave it a holy dip amid chanting from scriptures, when hordes of devotees took a plunge into the water. It is believed that taking a dip simultaneously with the holy disc of the Lord will rid one of all ailments and misfortune.

TTD Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy, Executive Officer Dr. Sambasiva Rao, Tirumala JEO K S Sreenivasa Raju and TTD Board members were present. Meanwhile, TTD sources said that about 18,000 pilgrims had Vaikuntha Dwara darshan till 7 a.m. on Tuesday. In a communiqué released on Tuesday, the TTD said that the temple was thrown open for darshan to general public, after pre-dawn ritual to enable about 18,000 pilgrims to have darshan of the Lord. While the total number of pilgrims who had darshan on Vaikuntha Ekadasi on Monday, was 87,903. The TTD netted a record income of Rs 2.76 crore through Hundi offerings, on Monday alone.
