Rampachodavaram (East Godavari): Special ITDA will be set up in Chintur within two months and the government has already issued a GO to this effect, according to Principal Secretary, Tribal Welfare Department Dr A Vidyasagar.

He attended as chief guest at ITDA governing body meeting held in Rampachodavaram on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the ITDA would start its functioning from the month of April after appointment of Project Officer and other staff.

Vidyasagar said that an action plan was formulated to provide basic amenities with Rs 2,000 crore under Tribal Sub-Plan in Rampachodavaram ITDA for next seven years. He mentioned that only Andhra Pradesh government had set up ITDAs and appointed IAS officers as project officers and added that the government had formulated Tribal Sub-Plan for the development of tribals. He informed that an action plan has been formulated to lay internal roads with Rs 205 crore and CC roads with Rs 325 crore in villages in Rampachodavaram region.

He stressed the need for improvement in health and education in the region. He directed the project officer and the District Collector to bring the problems of the tribals to the notice of the government. Mentioning that difference between revenue and forest officials were common in agency area, he called upon the Project Officer, revenue and forest officials to work in coordination and sanction pattas for the tribals who were cultivating lands in the agency area. He informed that NTR Vidyonnathi programme was being implemented to make sure that tribal students who pursued higher education get employment in All India services and state services. He explained that the selected educated tribal youth were being sent for training in five centers in the country.

About 100 candidates were selected already and the government was spending Rs two lakh on each candidate. He maintained that the government was spending Rs 10 lakh on each candidate under Ambedkar Overseas scheme for the tribal youth who were pursuing education abroad and added that a loan of Rs five lakh would be also given to the selected candidates. Rajya Sabha member T Ratna Bai, ZP Chairman Namana Rambabu, ITDA PO Chakradhar and Joint Collector Satyannarayana were present.
