Anantapur: Civil Supplies Minister urged people to utilise ‘farm ponds’ to derive maximum benefit. She inspected the ongoing works at Venkatapuram in Ramagiri mandal on Friday. She said that works were going in 300 farm ponds against the 2,552 ponds, sanctioned.

She directed the officials to create awareness among farmers. She also told them to supervise the works so that all the works were completed in stipulated time. She interacted with the coolies and enquired about the work.

The scheme, popularly called ‘Panta Sanjeevani’ would be a crop saver for the farmers, who produce groundnut, Sunitha said. The ground water would be recharged by gathering the rainwater by setting up farm ponds in the fields, she said. In fact, the scheme was a boon for the farmers of the region, she observed.

MDO Pulla Narsimhulu, MRO Adinarayana, Sarpanch of Ramagiri Srinivas, and other officials were also present.
